An early birthday Staycation

I turn 30 in a few weeks (the 17th) and Claire will be 1 on the 11th! To help make it a memorable birthday and to relax a bit, Scott and my Mom arranged for us to have a 2Night Stay at a local resort. Scott searched Expedia and decided on The 4 Seasons in North Scottsdale. On Monday I found a card on our counter requesting my presence the 4th- 6th. They didn't tell me where we were going. On Thursday we packed up and headed out. We enjoyed checking out the property and that night we went to a low key dinner at Greasewood Flats. It is a dive-bar, hamburger joint, but a fun atmosphere. I just kept thinking how excited I was to have a break from all my Mom/ Wife responsibilities of feeding, cleaning, rocking, entertaining etc.

We had a great room with a deep bathtub that Scott could actually fit in, with his long legs. Our patio overlooked the desert and we did feel quite secluded there. Friday morning we ordered room service, something I have always wanted to do. We had a $100 resort credit with the deal Scott got. For breakfast we got 2 slices of yummy french toast (1 meal), and then 2 eggs, some potatoes, 3 slices of bacon, and 2 slices of toast. When you include all of the charges plus tip, this breakfast used up half of our hotel credit! Being the frugal people we are, we talked about how this was nice, but we can't justify ordering room service very often! Then, being the clumsy girl I am, I dropped my plate and half of my breakfast landed on the carpet! But for that price, I ate it anyways! :)

We enjoyed lounging by the pool where they bring you complimentary fruit, shot glass size smoothies and lemonade and Dibs! I love how they had water, prickly pear ice tea, and arnold palmers that you can just go get. I usually have to bring a few gallon jugs to have water to drink, so this was nice!

Friday night we went to Sassi restuarant, which has a romantic Italian theme. The desert views were beautiful. After dinner the hotel offered stargazing. Scott and I love Astronomy. We got to look thru a nice telescope and see the moon and Saturn along with it's rings! We enjoyed relaxing and the hot tub. It was so nice to get away for a few days and relax. A BIG THANK YOU to my mom and Scott's parents for watching Claire at our house. She did great! I don't know if we even missed each other much. It was a great break! And it was so nice for Scott and I to reconnect and focus on each other without our adorable little girl taking our attention.
Let the birthday festivities continue....
At the pool: Scott had a minty Mojito and I, a smoothie.

Enjoying some time together!
