Fun-filled? Weekend

We (all 3 of us) went up to Show Low (about3.5 hours NE of Phx) this weekend for Eric's Wedding. Eric was a high school, college, roommate friend, and groomsman in our wedding. Eric asked Scott to be a groomsman and play guitar during the ceremony. Claire has learned that she does NOT like the flash. She anticipates it and avoids the bright lights. Smart baby= not so great pictures.

Claire's 1st wedding. Dancing w/ Daddy.

Sunset at the Golf Club

Friday Night rehearsal dinner. Yummy steaks, food, and cream puffs!

We stopped up on the Rim on our drive up.
Don't know what happenned to the picture quality! We are so thankful Consumer Reports recommended such a great camera. (Sarcasm!)

Woods Canyon Lake. We stopped for a quick PB&J lunch. It looks like a great time, but she was exhausted and wiggly, and then filled her diaper. Fun times! At least it was pretty and cool.It was great to escape the heat and see some pine trees! However, we have a little lady who greatly prefers her own bed, thank you very much! She didn't sleep the whole ride up and then didn't like either the look or smell of the hotel room or pack n play. So we rushed off to the rehearsal and dinner. She had a great time socializing, but she was very tired, a little too tired. We parents call it over-tired and KNOW it is Not good thing! She was good, but sleeping that night was challenging. Scott said never again, with a 1yr old in a hotel room!
I spent a great deal of my time in the hotel room trying to keep the atmosphere quiet and dark so Claire would nap. She does know how to play us already! She would stand up in our bed and play with the head board. When she could see we were frustrated, she'd come down give us a kiss and rest her head on us while saying, "Aahh." She is independent!

She did well during the ceremony. I thought she'd spot Scott playing guitar and either start loudly saying, "Da-da!" or run over to him. But she spotted the favors on the chairs, trail mix with chocolate, instead. She picked up and started playing with any favors she could find. Then the chocolate melted, got on her hands, and then her outfit. At least she was quiet. :) She did have a melt down between the ceremony & reception. It was so bad that I thought for sure I would be spending the evening in the hotel room instead. All in all, she did well. She loved the music and danced around. She was such a trooper! We left close to midnight after dancing to footloose.
We enjoyed dancing but it is a little harder to do with a 1yr old. We had a friend hold her for one salsa dance. It was fun seeing old friends! We are all tired, so I will say Bonne Nuit!

Here is Claire dancing to Footloose! Evidence she IS my daughter!

It is dark and somewhat difficult to see.

James was the same way with sleeping at a hotel or anywhere else. It wasn't any better at 2yrs. This year was a little better, but he's in a regular bed now.

Good luck, Mandy and Scott! We always had to leave places, because Scott would scream and have a melt down.
We did not go anywhere their first 2 yrs. of life.
